What to Look for in a Pressure Washer
Pressure washers are basically cleaning equipments that use both water and high pressure to generate a cleaning power that is capable of removing tough dirt, dust, mold, and mud on solid surfaces. The unit is responsible for accelerating the water and ejecting it a high velocity. The speed it creates is more than double that of a regular garden hose.
Electric pressure washers and gasoline pressure washers are the two types of pressure washers available in the market. Each type has its own advantage as well as significant disadvantage over the other.
Electric-powered units run on electricity and are designed for light cleaning jobs because they cannot generate the same amount of power that gas units do. Electric pressure washers are highly suitable for residential cleaning applications. Since they do not emit fumes, they can be used for indoor cleaning applications. Another plus factor for electric pressure washers is they are silent and are built in a small form factor making them very portable.
Gas-powered units run on gasoline and are designed for heavy duty cleaning jobs. They are able to generate more cleaning power and are capable of cleaning more effectively. Gasoline pressure washers are highly suitable for commercial and industrial cleaning applications. Some gas-powered units even have enough power to strip paint off cars and walls.
If you are looking for a pressure washer, one of the important things you may want to consider in your unit will be its PSI (Pounds per Square Inch) because this is the main indicator on how powerful the unit is. If you will be using your pressure washer unit for commercial and industrial cleaning purposes, you may want to look into units with around 2,500 to 5,000 PSI. However, if you will just be using your unit for personal or residential use only, you may want to look into units with around 900 to 2,000 PSI.
